About Us
What We Do:
Through the course of geophysical education and employment within the geophysical community, the founding members of Earth Measurement Corporation (EMC) recognized a specific need worldwide to uncover the mysteries that lie within that first 100 to 200 feet of earth upon which saleable property exists. Bluntly, you need to know what’s down there and we orchestrated the means to tell you.
With worldwide clients and prominent clusters in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, we have been working for over 30 years with state-of-the-art equipment to survey and exhaustively map that unseen region of your property. Before you dig, before you drill, before you build, before you buy or sell, you can bring our team on the scene to tell you where abandoned pipes or utilities are, where tanks are buried, where contaminated plume has migrated and collected, where voids exist or where ground movement has generated faults… and much more!
We encourage you to educate yourself about our methods and tools. Please study our remote sensing technologies such as ground penetrating radar (GPR) and our oft-employed electromagnetic instrumentation - plus much more! Through the use of these magnificent tools we provide:
- Utility and pipeline location
- Void mapping (delineation)
- Underground storage tank locating
- Structural steel or conduit mapping within a concrete mass
- Migration of polluted plume mapping, often referred to as contaminant plume delineation
- Down-hole and Cross-hole geophysical examination, and
- High-resolution seismic and vibration monitoring
A Brief History:
Our headquarters was founded in the Greater Houston Area, TX, in 1990.
EMC President Joe M. Austin, has overseen the founding and growth of the company. Mr. Austin has family roots in the industry and his father, Tom Austin, introduced him to the wonders of geophysics at an early age. Mr. Austin graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, with a Bachelor of Science and worked in the industry of exploration geophysics before establishing Earth Measurement Corp., and its indispensable application of geophysical endeavor. Mr. Austin is a licensed Professional Geoscientist by the State of Texas, License Number 5335, and by the State of Louisiana, License Number 595.
“We are happy to discuss any project to determine if our tools and experience can unlock the secrets of your geophysical mysteries. Some projects are simply beyond the capabilities of current technology, but wherever possible we will deliver exceptional results to our clients - often beyond their expectations.” - Joe M. Austin
Ultimately, we were founded to provide the most comprehensive and cost-effective near-surface geophysical services available worldwide. We strive on every project, to collect, process, and interpret the acquired data in the most unbiased manner possible and deliver answers for your corporate, industrial, or legal challenges.
