G-858 Magnetometer

The Geometrics G-858 Cesium Vapor Magnetometer / Gradiometer is a lightweight, portable, ferrous detection device accurate to within 0.1 nano-tesla (nT) under optimum conditions. It has a working range of from 20,000 to 100,000 (nT).  The Cesium Vapor Magnetometer/Gradiometer is an optically pumped sensor that generates a Larmor frequency proportional to the Earth's local magnetic field.  Radio-frequency (RF) energy applied at right angles to the Earth's field will cause the resulting resonance frequency to be absorbed when the RF equals the precession frequency.  Measurement of the resonance frequency yields a relative measurement of the local magnetic field.
